The aim of this website is to tell visitors more about the work of the Trust and our mission to protect the public, reduce re-offending and support the victims of crime.
Humberside Probation became one of the first Probation Trusts in England and Wales on 1 April, 2008. There are now 35 Probation Trusts under contract to the Secretary of State for Justice to provide Probation services against standards and targets laid down by the Government.
Humberside Probation Trust divides its operations between two Local Delivery Units (LDUs) covering Hull/East Riding of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire/North East Lincolnshire.
Each LDU is led by a Director of Probation, who reports to the Trust’s Chief Executive and Board. The LDUs, with their separate management teams, allow us to develop localised projects and partnerships specifically aimed at the different requirements of communities in the four local authority areas.
They also mean we can play a key, more localised role in Humberside’s four Community Safety Partnerships along with the Police, local authorities, health authorities, the voluntary sector, local residents and businesses.
Humberside Probation Trust is part of the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) and the Ministry of Justice.
For several years, the Trust has achieved the highest level – Band 4 Green Star – for its performance under national targets set by the Probation Trust Rating System.
The Trust holds the Recognised for Excellence (R4E) award. In 2011, following 10 years of successful assessments under the European Foundation for Quality Management Excellence Model, Humberside became the third Probation Trust to achieve the highest R4E five star ranking.
Humberside Probation Trust has also retained its Investors in People (IiP) award for 13 years.
As well as our work, this site also includes details about the Board and its members who are appointed from the local community.
Details of Board Meetings are available along with the latest news about the Trust. There is also a section on our latest vacancies for those thinking of a career in the Probation Service.
Public have their say on how criminals payback
Community Payback involves offenders undertaking unpaid work in the local community to make amends for the crimes they have committed.
Members of the public, clubs, community groups, faith groups and voluntary organisations can suggest projects to be considered for Community Payback. Click Community Payback for details of the scheme.
Single Equality Scheme
Humberside Probation Trust has its own Single Equality Scheme covering race, gender, religion, disability, sexual orientation and age. The Scheme is reviewed annually and we welcome comments and suggestions from interested individuals and groups. Click on Single Equality Scheme for more details.
Local Crime: Community Sentence (LCCS)
UK Justice System
A community sentence is a form of punishment in the community which is supervised by the probation service. The Local Crime Community Sentence project (LCCS) is a joint venture by magistrates and probation officers to increase the knowledge and understanding of community sentences. Please see the Partnerships section for details and videos from the LCCS scheme.
