Probation Review: Response
Humberside Probation Trust has completed a detailed response to the proposals contained within the Effective Community Sentences and Effective Probation Services consultation documents. This has been sent to the Ministry of Justice along with a very helpful and constructive response from Humberside Criminal Justice Board’s diversity panel on the equality and diversity aspects of the proposals.
The plans set out by Justice Secretary Ken Clarke were intended to ensure community sentences are a tough and credible punishment that better tackle reoffending, supported by reforms aimed at modernising probation to cut crime. The plans aim to make better use of the innovation, capacity and diversity of voluntary private providers who are in partnership with the probation service.
